CCOMMODATION

Trainees working at the JRC in Ispra are offered a room in a little appartment complex called Foresteria, situated within 5 minutes walking distance from the main entrance to the JRC. Although housing is subject to availability and can thus not be guaranteed, trainees are usually accommodated either in shared flats (up to 4 people) or in one of the old and new bungalows (1 or 2 persons). All flats and bungalows have private bedrooms, a living/dining room, 1 or 2 bathrooms and a kitchen(ette). Check out the slideshows below to get a better idea of living conditions. The household inventory list and the FAQ section below should address the most important questions of what to expect of your new home.

Frequently asked questions

1. Do I get to choose my housing arrangement?

No! Unfortunately, the rooms and bungalows are assigned to trainees by the Administration of the Foresteria. You can express your preferences but no guarantee can be given that your preferences can be considered.

2. How many people live in the flats/bungalows?

Flats house up to 4 people and bungalows either 1 or 2.

3. Are genders mixed?

No. Flats and bungalows are occupied by either male or female tenants.

4. Do I need to bring bed linen?

Bed linen is provided by the Foresteria. There is even a laundry service that will clean your bed linen, towel and pillow cases once a week (Tuesdays). Needless to say that this service does not include your private laundry.
