Basic Rights and Responsibilities
General

Traineeships are offered to the students (for support in teh preparation of the thesis for a university degree) or to the graduates within 5 years after the last university degree.

You will be not ffered a traineeship if for a period longer than 6 weeks you were working for any European institution.

Minimum duration of a traineeship is 3 month, maximum is 5 months. Contracts cannot be extended.

Trainees have 40-hour working week (8 hours/day, no flexitime available).

You have right to follow Italian training course inside the JRC.

Completion of a traineeship des not entail any right or priority with regard to an appointment within services of the European Commission.
Travels

Trainees are entitles to receive travel allowance for medical visit and for the arrival and departure trips (if place of recruitment is further than 50 km).

The JRC taxi from and to the airport on arrival and departure is offered (at the beginning and the end of your contract.
Accommodation

If available, for a period of a contract, trainees are offered a room in the JRC's apartment complex (Foresteria).
Job

Trainee is placed under the responsibility of a supervisor.

You are allowed to participate in the work of the unit to which you are attached, at a level corresponding to your academic background and area of expertise.
Absences
You have right to:

Two days leave per month acquired pro rata to the months worked counted from the first day of the month.

Sick leave (the medical certicate is recquired if absence is longer than three days).
