A BOUT ISPRA
Ispra is a small town on the Eastern shore of Lago Maggiore and lies in the province of Varese, Lombardia, Italy. Round about 5000 people live in Ispra and you can find basic facilities such as two bigger supermarkets (Carrefour and Tigros), two bike shops, a petrol station, post office, local police, a number of restaurants and bars, a church, a camping site, some hotels and B&Bs and a number of smaller shops. For a more detailed overview of Ispra check out the map.
The public transport situation is, let's say, sub-optimal with only few trains leaving Ispra train station per day but at least regular bus connections to Sesto Calende (14 km) and Varese (25 km). The next, more frequentedly served train stations are in Besozzo (7 km) and Sesto Calende. With Malpensa/Milano, one of Italy´s major airports, only 30 km away, Europe and the rest of the world seem a hell lot closer. At least if you own a car as the distance to Malpensa doubles or triples if you have to rely on public transport. Last but not least, Ispra can be reached and fled from by ferry with ferry lines running South to Angera and Arona and North to Stresa and Intra.
